– European Car Barn –

[ Medina ]

The clients envisioned a special estate building with display space for their collection of vintage cars, a pickleball court, a fitness area and room for entertaining. Bruce and his team are connoisseurs of French vernacular architecture, design and the decorative arts, so they took their design cues from Normandy long barns. Inspired by these ancient farm buildings with animal stalls, living quarters and a hayloft, they designed a rustic yet grand stone barn that looks and feels as though it evolved over many decades. In signature style, Bruce hand-drew every detail, including equestrian-style stalls with custom wood and metal railings, leaded windows with reclaimed wood headers and stone sills, old-fashioned casement windows, steel beams faced in reclaimed wood with metal collars and brackets, and heavy oak doors with metal edging, distressed hinges and antique locks with skeleton keys that really work. In testament to the authenticity of the design and meticulous craftsmanship, the European Car Barn was honored with Best in Show, First Place and Second Place in the 2025 ASID MN Design Awards.
