Dejeuner Dans Le Jardin
June 2024
DateLine: Bosquet des Trois Fontaines
Among the many highlights, the gala weekend included an exclusive visit and lunch in the Bosquet des Trois Fontaines at Versailles. This delightful garden-within-a-garden was the first preservation project completed by the American Friends of Versailles. Designed by Le Notre with Louis XIV, the garden features three terraces, elaborate tiers of waterworks, rocaille decorations, and central fleur-de-lis fountain displays that have been scrupulously recreated according to the original 17th-century blueprints and plans. After enjoying champagne in the bosquet, Bruce, Craig, Allison, Eric and Wyatt strolled through the Petit Trianon and along its allée to a garden, where picnic basket lunches were served under the trees near the palace’s Pavillon Frais, another AFV restoration project.
